Mounting Plate:

1.   Remove the Seat
2.   Position the Mounting Plate over the four threaded holes in the rear frame cross-brace. (M in the
      diagram below)
3.   Use the four thin-head bolts (8x1.25x18) included and fasten securely. (Nuts are not required)
4.   Re-install the Seat.
Grab Rail (Plus & Classic):

Attach the Grab Rail to the Mounting Plate:
a.   Remove the bolts from the upper shock absorber mounts.
*Do not remove the shock absorber!
b.   Slide accessory in from the rear (under the seat if re-attaching) and bolt the  front brackets to the
      shock absorber pivot mount.
c.    Raise the accessory to position the rear brackets to the Mounting Plate and insert the thin-head
        bolts and washers.
*Note:
The brackets were designed
to mount below the Mounting
Plate to simplify removal and
installation without having to
remove the seat.  Leave the
bolts in place and remove the
nuts to change accessories.
d.   Tighten the stock shock absorber bolts.
Torque to the factory recommended 27Nm
      or 20 ft.lbs.

Re-install the seat  (the seat does NOT have to be removed for further installations
unless the Mounting Plate is to be removed)
Luggage Brackets:

The Luggage Brackets are an accessory for the MCR Mounting Plate system and are attached to the
bottom of the Mounting Plate.  Install them as the last accessory attached to the Mounting Plate.

The standard Mounting Plate bolts should work for two accessories but if longer bolts are needed, use
8 x 1.25 x 24 (the last number is the length in millimeters)
Installation:
1.  The FRONT mount goes outside other  accessories with
the washer & cap bolt assembled as shown on this image------->
2.  The included longer bolt (8x1.25x24) may be substituted for the
stock shock absorber bolt if needed.
 *(
a washer is recommended since this is not a cap bolt)
3.  The REAR mount is positioned below all other accessories and secured with the bolt-nut-washer
used to fasten all accessories to the mounting plate?

*Note:  the stock washer can be installed
outside the accessory bracket or
in-between the shock absorber and the
front bracket.  Either is suitable for
mounting one accessory.
Note: the curvature of the rear  mount is designed to
assure a 90 degree perpendicular alignment with the
Mounting Plate in the unlikely event that any other
accessory mounts are distorted (bent) by excessive
stress.  It is auto-centering to mount 90 degrees to the
Mounting Plate.
Assembly Parts Required:

(included with Mounting Plate):

B.  Mounting Plate =(4) 8x1.25x18 metric thin-head bolts + washers (no nuts)

(included with Luggage Brackets):
C.  Luggage Brackets (optional) =(2)  8x1.25x24 bolts (high grade >8.8)

About MCR

To Mount Luggage:

    * The use of slanted bags is highly recommended and they should follow the leading edge of the
Bracket to avoid contact with the shock absorber.  If straight bags are used, check for clearance
and use a spacing plate to obtain a contact-free mount (see instructions for Spacer Plate).
  • Standard Saddlebags (over-the-seat):

Use the holes in the crossbar and/or the lower mounting hole as tie-downs or bungee mounts
         for removable luggage.

  • Bolt-on Saddlebags or Hard Bags:

  • Quick Mounts:

  • The spacer washers are NOT used with the removable Quick Mounts.
  • Prepare the crossbar as outlined in the Quick Mount instructions.
  • To offset the recessed crossbar, use the included spacer washers to provide a flush
surface for the upper mounting holes.
  • Attach using any or all of the holes in the crossbar and the bottom mounting hole for lower
support.  You can use ¼” bolts and your choice of nuts to secure the luggage.  It is
advisable to use nylon insert locknuts or threadlocker (e.g., Loctite) on the nuts to prevent
    loosening under vibration.
  • Leather saddlebags can be mounted with the connecting strap folded under.  Simply fold
the strap tightly to the back of the bag and secure with tape.  First, position the bags with the
Luggage Brackets mounted and mark the location of the crossbar to make sure height is
correct.  Then, dismount and use the Bracket to mark hole locations on the bag and drill ¼”
holes at the marks.                        --[check Quick Mounts web page for detailed instructions]

Mounting Straight Luggage:

While slanted bags work best, straight bags need a spacer to clear the shock absorbers.  Using the
outline of the brackets, a spacer plate can be fabricated to extend the bag past the shock.  The
spacer should be no smaller than the external dimensions of the bracket and bolted using the
available mounting holes.  If the bag is also to be bolted, use longer bolts and attach the spacer
between the bracket and the bag.

Spacer material can vary but it should be waterproof or made waterproof.  Half-inch plastic works
well and plywood can be sealed and painted to make it a workable solution.  Trace the outline of the
bracket onto the spacer material and mark the hole placements with an awl or punch.  Drill the holes
for mounting and check for alignment before cutting the outline shape.

A spacer was made with an old kitchen cutting board (plastic) in about 20 minutes.  For instructions
and pictures of this plastic spacer, click here:
