Frequently Asked Questions
SEAT RACK:

Can the Seat Rack be used with the Grab Rail Classic?
Yes, and the Grab Rail provides even more support for attaching loads.  The Luggage Brackets can also
be used (always attach them last) for a total of three accessories.

Why is there a caution about a maximum load for the Seat Rack?
Because of the design (cantilever) that the limited mounting points on the frame permits. Any aft-seat rack
for the Bonneville requires a cantilever design and should adhere to the same caution.  A heavy duty
center-brace (~1/4 inch) and solid rod side supports on the Seat Rack allows normal loads to be easily
carried but any cantilever design has inherent limits.  A good rule of thumb is to not carry any load that
distorts  the rack downward*  when the cycle is at rest.  If heavy loads are to be carried, the Seat Bar is a
better option because its rack has more support --in fact, it was designed to carry cargo!

** Some distortion can be expected with loads of 5 lbs. or more but any bend approaching 6mm (~1/4 ")
should be avoided.  A Seat Rack tested with 10 lbs. of dead weight (solid iron) measured a distortion of
2.9 mm and doubling the weight to 20 lbs. produced a 4.2 mm distortion (measured at the extreme rear of
the rack).  Note: the load weight when riding produces greater stress than at rest because weight
increases dynamic force when up & down motion is added by the bumps and jolts of natural riding.

Can the Seat Rack TR be used with the Luggage Brackets?
Unfortunately, it can not.  The Luggage Brackets are build on the MP System that uses our Mounting Plate
and work with the regular Seat Rack.  The Seat Rack TR requires the Triumph factory mount (this used to
be called a fender brace) and can be used with the Triumph grab rail or sissy bar.  Actually, the two
versions of the Seat Rack have different dimensions although they use the same side mounts in different
orientations.  The two are not compatible.
